Law enforcement agencies team up for annual sock collection drive - InForum | Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo news, weather and sports

FARGO — The Fargo Police Department, West Fargo Police Department and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office will compete against each other as part of the Fifth Annual Golden Drive Sock Drive to collect socks for homeless children.

The friendly competition begins Saturday, Oct. 1.

Individuals interested in donating socks in support of their favorite law enforcement agency will have until Friday, Nov. 4 to make a donation.

Socks must be new and all sizes are accepted.

Fargo police will have a sock donation box available in the main lobby of police headquarters at 105 25th St. N., in Fargo. Access to the lobby is generally available from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Last year, West Fargo police took home the traveling trophy for collecting 3,385 pairs of socks.

Results and the winner of this year’s sock drive will be announced on Friday, Dec. 16, as part of the Golden Drive’s “Fill the Fire Boot” event, which is scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. that day at the West Fargo Fire Department located at 106 1st St. in West Fargo.

The sock drive is organized by Golden Drive Homeless Kids, a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness of the homeless crisis faced by kids in Fargo and the surrounding communities.
