Socks for Tots drive begins in November

ALTON – Alton 4th Ward Alderwoman Rosetta “Rosie” Brown, founder of Socks for Tots, LLC, has announced that the Seventh Annual Socks for Tots Drive will run November and December.

"It’s time to replenish the socks inventory for our youth," Brown said. "My mission is to 'Heat the Feet' of our school age children.

Last year with the help of the community, Brown was able to provide more than $3,500 in socks to schools, daycares, the Oasis Women Center, the Boys and Girls Club and Catholic Children’s Home.

"Let’s really make an impact into the lives of our children by collective donating toward this initiative," she said

Collection boxes will be placed in several venues, including: the Alton and Wood River Rotary Clubs, Alton Democratic Party, YWCA, Alton City Hall, Today’s Beauty, Bluff City Grill, US Nails, Lovette's, Athletico, New Beginning Church, Marcia’s Daycare, Maxine’s Daycare, the Boys and Girls Club, Next Step Basketball Academy at the Catholic Children’s Home, Webster Temple Church, Alton High School, Alton Middle School, East Elementary School, West Elementary School, Lovejoy Elementary School, Gilson Brown Elementary School, Mark Twain Elementary School, Lewis and Clark Elementary School and Turning Heads Barbershop.
