Ana de Armas and Yara Shahidi may be on opposite sides of the globe but each actress is ushering in the same new trend. While the end of the summer season is still six-ish weeks away, the actresses are giving fall/winter dressing new air time with crisp blazers and knee high socks. Summer school is in session.

First to wear the look this week was de Armas who is traveling around the world for the promotional tour of The Gray Man which also stars Ryan Gosling, Regé-Jean Page and Chris Evans. After making a red carpet appearance in Berlin wearing a three-piece suit, the actress braved the heatwave in London, swapping cigarette pants for a Louis Vuitton pleated knee-grazing skirt, a navy blazer with the brand’s monogram as well as a white shirt and matching tie. It was finished with a pair of towering black boots.

The following day Shahidi stepped out in New York City outside Good Morning America in an equally-preppy look. The Grown-ish star opted for a more Gossip Girl take on uniform dressing in none other than the king of prep, Thom Browne. She wore a knee-length sheer button-up shirt which was layered underneath a double-breasted blazer dress with contrast piping. The ensemble was finished with knee-high socks and penny loafers.

Stylist and creative Jared Deng has been the genius behind Joey King’s recent string of promotional looks for the new Brad Pitt film, Bullet Train. Earlier this week Deng put an androgynous twist on the trend, dressing the Australian actress in Kenzo. If this was my uniform in high school, I would have actually worn it. On the red carpet in Paris, she put a French girl twist on the pleated skirt with a Thom Browne corseted look.
