It's another year for McHappy Day, and Macca's announced on November 13 that there is an interesting new way to support this cause. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of McHappy Day, McDonald's Australia launched a new series of silly socks featuring McDonald's Paradise characters, Ronald McDonald, Grimace, Hamburglar-and now there is an extra pair of limited edition Birdie socks.

Since announcements and novelty socks are universal *things*, it is not surprising that this kind of McDonald's promotional activities have attracted online attention.

McDonald’s Australia Marketing Director Amanda Nakad issued a statement on the price cut and shared the following:

"For many years, Silly Socks has been a part of our McHappy Day fundraising program and is deeply loved by the Australian community.

"This year's design features iconic Macca characters Ronald McDonald, Grimace and Hamburglar to commemorate the 30th anniversary of McHappy Day in Australia.

"Our Silly Socks look good, feel good, and do a good job. All profits are used to help seriously ill children and their families.

"We call on Australians to buy a pair of socks and express their support for Ronald McDonald House charity on this McHappy Day."

Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia CEO Barbara Ryan added: “McHappy Day is vital for us to continue to help critically ill and injured children and their families across Australia.

"McDonald's and its customers support programs such as McDonald's homes, family rooms, family vacations, and our national study program with the funds raised through the purchase of Silly Socks, which have a real impact on the lives of families and children in need."

In the past 30 years, McHappy Day has successfully raised more than US$56 million for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), organizations dedicated to supporting young people and children who are sick and their families.

If you are keen to buy the new McDonald's silly socks series launched by Ronald McDonald, Grimace or Hamburglar, you can buy them at Macca restaurants nationwide for $5.

The story of Birdie Silly Socks is a bit different. You can only buy these cute pink socks from Amazon Australia. McDonald's Birdie socks are $20 each and can be purchased here. However, it is worth noting that the purchase limit for each size per transaction is three pairs.

When you buy a pair of McDonald's Silly Socks, 100% of the profits will go to RMHC.

Guess the only question left is, which pair of McDonald's socks do you plan to take home?
