Generosity is in the air.

Last year, it was a blanket. This year, it is our buddy's socks.

The 8-year-old Vincenzo Gallo made a decision during Christmas last year to provide 99 blankets to the homeless. He got this idea from a TV show. This is his wish, and it is also on his Christmas list. Number 99 sounds good.

His parents said he has always been a thinking child, why not?

Vincenzo spoke out and talked with relatives and others. He has been on TV and in newspapers. He got 350 blankets. Many people think this is a good idea.

A super successful person-without a doubt.

This year is socks. His father Omar said that socks will take up less space during the collection process. The basement is full. Dad said this is a crazy era, and the blankets come from companies and individuals.

By the way, Vincenzo's mother is Belen. She is also deeply involved in the blanket collection.

Blankets were scattered to homeless centers and churches.

So back to the socks. "We talked to the Homeless Center and they told us socks are important because they (the homeless) are on the street. Because of the cold, they need them," Omar said.

Vincenzo started last week and within a few days there were 50 pairs. This year's goal is 200 pairs. "Others are already coming forward. The Hacken Orthodontics in South Bend donated 50 blankets last year, and this year they extended a helping hand again. They have collected 130 pairs of socks. They are challenging other dental clinics, which is great," Ou Mar said.

Omar said that this year has not been easy for their family and many others. A little kindness goes a long way. If you want to donate, please send an email to Vincenzodonates@hotmail.com. The family will be collected until December 15 and will be distributed before Christmas.

Next year, Vincenzo wants to try to collect hats and gloves. He is thinking ahead.

This is a group of things looking for warmth.

Like Ripple Effect Vocal Visionary Project. The singing group will hold the Merry Melody Mitten Drive from noon to 1 pm on December 11th. They will sing carols and festival favorites outside the Indiana Rug Company at 220 E. Mishawaka Ave.

Sherry Klinedinst, head of the Ripple Effect Vocal Visionary Project, said the organization is requesting mittens, gloves, hats, scarves and caps. There will be a donation bucket for all the goodies. The group will also accept donations of money and gift cards.

All warm clothing will be sent to the Broadway Christian Diocese for those in need.

“We have done this every year during our seven years of existence. We like to include local businesses in the event. We are lucky to have Indiana Rug involved this year,” she said.

The ripple effect has attracted attention in this area for many reasons. It has diverse members from Indiana and Michigan, as well as "If You Know Me" concerts that include life stories and music. The life-changing story touched everyone's heart. The group was also invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Carnegie's trip was in December 2019, which seems to be a lifetime experience.

The Merry Melody Mitten event has been very successful in the past. "It's fun, we enjoy each other's company," she said. Time will pass quickly.

She hopes that the turnout rate will be high and the weather will be good.

When all the stinking advertisements appear, it is Christmas. We only see perfume ads around Christmas, and a little bit on Mother's Day. There are some perfume advertisements in August. I think people are returning to the office and they want to smell better.

All in all, there are beautiful people in the advertisement selling things, and they may smell good. This is a toast to the grumpy. No one looks so good without a spray gun.

I know the Christmas lights are bright and there are trees in the windows. Something is missing. Let alone lack of snow. No snow is needed. Maybe I need to shop late at night-go in person. Buy less computers. The sweater is ugly? Do not. Doesn't work.

We can say goodbye to medical insurance advertisements. I think Joe Montana's ad is the best of the former quarterback ads. Joe Namas-not so much.

Take photos, put on a mask and watch puppy videos.
