The Kansas City-Ottawa Foot Pain Center collected donated socks in October as part of its first "Socktober" event, which may become an annual tradition in terms of its success.

Throughout October, local businesses and community members donated approximately 2,491 pairs of new socks in various sizes, colors and varieties. The Foot Pain Center stated that in addition to themselves, 16 companies have contributed, including Arvest Bank, Ottawa City Fire Department, Kalmar, Security 1st Tile and Women's Group of First Baptist Church. The American Eagle Outfitters distribution center also donated $500 in cash, which the Foot Pain Center said was enough to buy an additional 350 pairs of socks.

In addition, Dr. Jacob Goldstein of the Foot Pain Center signed an agreement with the Ottawa Entertainment Commission and its football team. If they can donate at least fifty pairs of socks, Dr. Goldstein promised to donate new footballs to ORC. The Foot Pain Center said that ORC was "fully capable" to achieve this goal, so Dr. Goldstein fulfilled his promise.

Speaking of the success of Socktober, the Foot Pain Center said: "The great heart of the Franklin County community makes us feel extremely humble." These socks will be donated to Hope House in Ottawa.
