A call out to community members of all ages. Your help is needed to thank local troops with care packages from their own hometown. Santa Clarita businesses, organizations, schools, churches, youth groups and families – we need you! Prayer Angels for the Military, Inc., a Newhall based 501(c)3 non-profit, has proudly organized community programs and events for 19 years to show appreciation for our military. Local Cub Scout Pack 527 was excited to kick off ‘Operation Red, White and Blue’ a little early this year. They organized a collection drive for items to go inside care packages and set up an area for everyone to make cards to go inside the packages at their Pinewood Derby on May 1st. The scouts were able to pack up and decorate the first 25 care packages for this special operation, which will continue through the month of August. Ongoing collection drive for monthly packing – most needed items: Individually wrapped snacks – protein and granola bars, trail mix, nuts, cookies, jerky, Slim Jims, Ritz type crackers and peanut butter (no glass jars), fruit snacks, Top Ramen (not cup-o-soups), oatmeal, hot cocoa, drink packets for water bottles, Pop-top cans of fruit and meals like chili and hearty soups, tuna and chicken kits, 3-4 blade razors, stick deodorant, body wash, unscented baby wipes, thick cotton crew socks (blk or wht), batteries (AA and AAA), hand held games, crosswords, Sudoku and stationery. Cards and letters to go inside and badly needed tax-deductible shipping funds. Donation bin for items (24/7) at 21609 Oak Orchard Rd, Newhall, CA 91321. Mail funds to Prayer Angels for the Military at this address or donate online thru PayPal: www.prayerangelsforthemilitary.com. Contact Suzon or Dale at prayerangelsforthemilitary@yahoo.com or call 661- 799-8865. Community service hrs, packing dates, add a troop name, hold a collection drive/care packing event, help local veterans in need.
